    About the role

    Balfour Beatty are recruiting for a Principal Structural Design Engineer to work with our Power Transmission and Distribution Team in Derby. You will deliver such design calculations, engineering drawings and documents that enable a safe and constructable engineeredsolution. Reports to the Design Delivery Manager Structures What you'll be doing
    • Assume the role of lead structural engineer for complex and non-standard projects as directed by the Design DeliveryManager - Structures.
    • Analyse and understand contract documents to determine scope of works, design parameters/methodologies, engineering programme, and budget.
    • Ensure projects are delivered to the engineering manager in accordance with the agreed scope of works, design parameters/methodologies, engineering programme and budget.
    • Review designs and design calculations produced by other engineers or apprentices to ensure the designs are appropriate and can be manufactured and constructed safely in accordance with contract documents and/ or current
      best practice.
    • Assist in the analysis and resolution of complex and non-standard design issues.
    • Identify, deliver, and undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of objectives.
    • Mentor and coach others from the structural and the wider engineer team.
    • Support the Chief Engineer Structures, to drive technical improvement, and identify innovation and development opportunities.
    Who we're looking for
    • Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Excellent structural analysis skills, ability to solve problems from first principles.
    • Good communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels.
    • Knowledge of lattice type structures.
    • Experience with BS EN ; BS EN ; BS EN UK NNA
    • Experience with Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, Bentley Staad Pro and PLS CADD/TOWER, or equivalent.
