    About Drax
We're one of the largest energy generators in the UK, with our main site in North Yorkshire covering 13 square miles. That means there are a lot of complex and interesting structures to work on, not to mention some of the new ones in the pipeline.

We could easily tell you more about what a fantastic opportunity this is, but here's what our placement students have said about their experience:
"Being at Drax has given me a much more practical experience of civil engineering. Being able to spend time on-site and in the office with experienced & expert engineers as well as cutting-edge technology has helped me broaden my skills and improve my academic knowledge. Perhaps more usefully it has given me many other skills outside of civil engineering, such as communication, team working & organisation. Being in such a friendly and supportive team has given me the opportunity and confidence to undertake new tasks and challenges. Overall, it has been a really enjoyable experience." – Henry Frost, Year in Industry Student

    What happens next?
Once you hit "apply," you'll be taken through our application questions and adding your CV is optional. Remember, we want to get to know you as an individual, so don't forget to let us know your motivations and aspirations as well as why Drax sparked your interest. The placement will start mid to late June 2024 and finish in late August 2025
One thing we would ask is that you take some time to consider our location, which is a bit out of the way and normally requires your own transport to get here.
