    Position Purpose

    They will be responsible for welding and fabricating a varied range of products in the general ranges of 3 – 25 mm thick materials for manufacturing purposes. They will ensure that all manufacturing tasks are completed within the assigned time frames and to the highest standards. They will predominantly work with mild steel and on occasions, they will work with aluminium or stainless steel. In doing so, they must use welding equipment, measuring equipment, cutting equipment, hand tools, techniques etc to fabricate products. They will rely on specifications, verbal instructions, and technical drawings / advice for manufacture.

    Expectations

    • Work as part of a team to fabricate, weld, assemble and test products.
    • Work to engineering drawings and ensure that the implementation of welding specifications is achieved.
    • Determine the required equipment and best welding procedure, applying knowledge of diverse techniques.
    • To have a good working understanding of a variety of fabricating equipment
    • Perform efficient welding of various metal objects using such processes as Metal Inert Gas, Metal Active Gas, Manual Metal Arc or Tungsten Inert Gas
    • Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks.

    Foundation / Position Requirements

    • A good all-round general education
    • Good numeracy and mechanical skills
    • Skilled and competent welder / fabricator
    • Proven experience in general fabrication
    • Computer literate
    • Understanding of numerical and mathematical calculations
    • Ability to work unsupervised.
    • Ability to read technical drawings
    • Adherence to health and safety policies
    • A willingness to develop and expand the knowledge / techniques of the role
    • Conscientious workmanship
    • Time served apprenticeship (Desirable)
    • Possess an NVQ or CSCS certification (Desirable)
    • Experience with stainless steel / aluminium (Desirable)
    • Forklift truck and overhead crane experience (Desirable)
    • Experience in the assembly of a range of products (Desirable)
