GMMH provides a network of specialist services across Greater Manchester, the North West and beyond.


The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will be a member of the multi-disciplinary mental health care team within Adult of Working Age Services.

They will have a personal case load and will be responsible for assessment, formulation and prescribing of care planning including discharge planning within agreed protocols.


Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners will take up components of the ACP role as competences are developed and are demonstrated in practice and the training will be facilitated via Salford University.

Lead, or contribute towards the assessment, planning, interventions, and evaluation of evidence based interventions for service users with SMI.

  • Provide expert advice to other staff, professionals and external agencies on the assessment, treatment and evaluation of evidence based care of service users with complex care needs.
  • Lead on behalf of the Consultant
  • Lead on specific cases within the clinical team.
  • Lead on service and practice development initiatives as directed.
  • Act as a role model to nursing staff by demonstrating leadership and expertise within the service and Trust in line with the nursing strategy
  • Support the interface between the Clinical Team and Ward based nursing staff
  • Routinely attend and contribute towards clinical team meetings, and Care Programme Approach.
  • Lead on the recovery agenda for the clinical team
