    Description

    We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher to commence on Thursday 15 August . This is a most exciting opportunity for a highly motivated teacher to join our staff team. This Teacher post will be based within Kindergarten however expectations are that applicants should be prepared to work at any stage of our Junior School, should this be required. The successful candidate should have the experience and expertise required to fulfil the job description enclosed. They should be prepared to give time and commitment to projects beyond the classroom that would be beneficial to the education of the pupils.

    The successful applicant may, if desired, participate in the Scottish Teachers' Superannuation Scheme and the School will pay the employer's contribution. Candidates must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). The appointment will be subject to a successful application to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

    General Duties Key Responsibilities


    • To develop positive relationships with all learners, through high quality interactions, and to support all children to reach their full potential according to their developmental needs and stage


    • To contribute to the creation of an attractive, inspiring and motivating classroom or Kindergarten learning environment, both indoors and out


    • To undertake development of the curriculum, specifically linked to the School/Centre Improvement Plan


    • To undertake forward planning according to school policy


    • To assess, record and report on the progress of pupils (including formal reporting through Parents' Evenings and written progress reports)


    • To undertake Career Long Professional Learning


    • To maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, to safeguard their health and safety and to promote a happy and productive atmosphere in the School, including responsibility for lunch time duties and extra-curricular activities


    • To work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals


    • To liaise effectively with stage partner and other members of staff To teach the assigned class, along with preparation and assessment, and to work with other members of staff to provide a happy, secure, stimulating and safe environment for the pupils.

    Other Duties


    • To contribute to the extra-curricular life of the Junior School


    • To promote, at all times, a positive image of the school


    • To undertake other duties as the Head Teacher may reasonably request Reporting To The teacher is responsible to the Kindergarten Principal Teacher, then Head Teacher of the Junior School and the Rector, who has overall responsibility for both the Junior and Senior Schools About the Candidate Essential Requirements Qualifications


    • As required by GTCS Experience


    • Ongoing involvement in appropriate career long professional learning


    • Experience in working collaboratively, e.g. with stage partners or within a department


    • Experience in an early years setting working with 3-5 year olds and the ability range within. Knowledge


    • Demonstrates sound knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence at Early Level Skills


    • Evidence of knowledge and understanding, alongside previous experience of planning and delivering play-based learning approaches


    • Ability to plan, deliver and lead coherent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for pupils.


    • Ability to develop and promote early literacy, early numeracy, health and wellbeing through play


    • Ability to work as part of an Early Years team and as part of the whole school wider team, contributing to the school ethos


    • Ability to communicate in a clear and stimulating manner at all levels


    • Ability to nurture and support all children according to their developmental needs


    • Ability to work with pupils in a sensitive manner using restorative approaches to manage behaviour
    • Ability to make use of a wide range of resources and to create a variety of learning experiences for pupils, incorporating technology in a range of ways Personal Attributes


    • Able to form relationships with staff at all levels and the wider community


    • Self-motivated and diligent


    • A good listener, flexible, tactful and approachable
