Ashiana Community Project is a charity working within Sparkbrook area of Birmingham meeting the needs of the local, diverse, people in an accessible and culturally sensitive provision.
Our advice and support work has been crucial to many in the community providing benefit and housing advice to those in need.

Job Outline:
To provide a safe welcoming environment to help people in crisis by providing advice, guidance and information to individuals and support them to make positive outcomes to their lives; including generic advice and guidance including help with form filling and liaising with service providers, benefit, money/debt support, housing etc.
Main Duties
- Support clients how in prioritising finances, manage debt control, and how to avoid the dangers of high interest lending. Work with the advice team to develop and assess progress / knowledge and skills gained.
- When appropriate, draw up detailed financial statements to negotiate payment plans with both priority and nonpriority creditors.
- Keep accurate records and case files including using appropriate internal or external software. Acting for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning negotiating with third parties as appropriate; ensuring income maximisation.
- Preparing and presenting cases to the appropriate statutory bodies. Assisting clients with other related problems by signposting to other advisers or specialist agencies and maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework and information.
- Provide advice and assistance if needed to other staff across the whole range of money advice issues, ensuring we are operating within the legal framework of money advice.
- Work with Project Manager, and the Advice Lead Worker to develop and improve our advice support helping to improve outcomes.
Reading relevant publications, undertaking continued professional development provided by our partnership & membership of Community Money Advice, including attending appropriate training and Money Advice Group meetings as necessary.
