An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Gynaecology and Breast team to recruit a Clinical Practice Educator.

The role of the educator will develop, deliver and evaluate a wide range of clinical work-based learning opportunities, to support the educational needs of the nursing team and students, which in turn provides high quality patient care.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering teaching packages to our staff groups via a variety of methods. Supporting staff in the clinical areas to achieve competence and helping to develop our future and current workforce.

  • To plan, deliver and evaluate teaching sessions
  • Deliver training to a variety of staff groups
  • Ensure programmes are in line with current evidence based practice
  • Work with divisional educators supporting the implementation of training in the clinical areas
  • Monitoring and supporting mandatory training compliance.
  • Primarily be based in a speciality team, but will be expected to work flexibly across the service to provide support and training to newly appointed staff.
  • Have the ability to act as a mentor and preceptor to newly appointed staff.
  • Have significant experience and credibility in clinical practice
  • Act as a role model and support and promote safe, quality care across the clinical environments.
  • Contribute to the production, implementation and review of LocSSIPs in collaboration with the senior teams.
  • Assist in the provision of assurance of standards through monitoring including completion of clinical audit and contributing to the development and delivery of audit feedback and action planning.
  • Practice nursing/clinical care within the clinical governance framework through which the organisation is accountable.
  • Assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of serious untoward incidents, clinical incidents and near miss events as required and under the direction of the senior team.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have an enhanced DBS.

This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.


As this vacancy is within the division of Women's and Children's, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service.

The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
