    Job summary

    This post is for the East team for older people serviceswithin North and East of York Locality. The locality has an over 65 populationthat is approximately around The team receives about 432 referrals eachyear. The CMHT provides Monday Friday 9am - 5pm assessment and treatmentservices which include the provision of care for older people with functionalmental health problems as well as complex organic care for patients in theirown homes.

    The East team receives approximately 55 to 60% of the NorthEast team referral.

    Main duties of the job

    The post is based at the Huntington House, Jockey Lane, YorkYO32 9XW where CMHT is based too. The Consultant has a designated office spaceand secretarial support and periodic Foundation Year Trainee placement.This post holder will provide clinical and educational supervision to anyjunior doctor posted with them. A review is being carried out about thesecretarial support and the expectation is for this to improve in the future.There are no training posts attached to this job. Two Foundation year doctorposts are rotated amongst all MHSOP CMHT teams. Trust Grade doctor post areallocated to substantive consultant posts within the locality based on yearlyrecruitment initiative and clinical needs of the post. There is no Specialitydoctor post attached to this post.

    The post holder is expected to see approximately 8 to 10 newpatients a month.

    The team implements purposeful and productive communityservice model.

    Post holder is expected to provide reciprocal leave crosscover for other MHSOP Consultants in the locality.

    This is a full-time post. The Consultant will provide inputworking to direct clinical care ( and supporting professionalactivities ( SPA) work programme for the East team.

    Job responsibilities

    You will be expected to join a continuous professionaldevelopment (CPD) peer group. As aConsultant Psychiatrist you should be either be a member or affiliate of theRoyal College of Psychiatrists so that you are automatically enrolled on thecolleges CPD programme. It is expectedthat you will remain in good standing for CPD with the college.

    You will use your peer group to help identify and reviewlearning objectives linked to clinical, academic and professional practice insupport of your CPD.

    The Trust will approve reasonable requests for study leavewhich have been agreed by your CPD peer group.Approval is given by the Lead Psychiatrist.

    You are entitled to 30 days study leave in any three-yearperiod. Less than full time consultantshave a pro rata entitlement.

    As a consultant you will be requiredto attend an annual job plan review meeting with your associate medicaldirector or lead psychiatrist and managerial equivalent. This meeting will normally take place beforethe end of March each year. You willbring relevant data on workload in the previous year to the meeting, usingelectronic job planning software (SARD).

    There is a need for a flexible approach to the pattern of workingwhich may change from time to time in line with the demands from various areasof the service and needs of the population.Changes will not be made to your consultants responsibilities withoutfull consultation.

    The Trust has a well-established appraisal system which is monitored bythe Responsible Officer and the Trust Board, with the Trust being thedesignated body. Support and trainingwill be available through the Trusts Revalidation Team to help you becomeacquainted with the appraisal process and system.
