    Main duties of the job
    • Undertake and document a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of the physical, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of babies, children, young people and their families. Create and utilise opportunities to promote health and well-being of babies, children, and young people in their care.
    • Leads a nursing team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift.
    • Working within the NMC Guidelines and Trust Policies recognising one's own abilities and limitations.
    • Maintain a good standard of communication with the multi-disciplinary team and respect the confidentiality of babies, children, young people, families and colleagues

      • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a specified group of patients.
      • Take charge of the ward as delegated by the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse for a specified period of time.
      • Act as a Team Leader, delegating appropriate tasks and supervising the standard of care delivered by more junior registered staff, non-registered staff and learners in the team.
      • Assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, returning to nursing staff and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.
