- Take charge of the ward as delegated by the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse for a specified period of time.
- Act as a Team Leader, delegating appropriate tasks and supervising the standard of care delivered by more junior registered staff, non-registered staff and learners in the team.
- Assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, returning to nursing staff and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.
