Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics, to work on the mathematical structure of multi-loop scattering amplitudes and on the development of bootstrap methods for computing them.

The Opportunity:

An exciting, positive, creative, challenging and rewarding place to work. The Higgs Centre ' s goal is to achieve breakthroughs in our basic understanding of the universe. Our work spans a broad range of disciplines, covering all length and time scales.

The particle theory group has a very strong ongoing research effort in particle phenomenology, scattering amplitudes, lattice field theory, and cosmology, supported by 17 faculty members, 9 PDRAs, and around 33 graduate students.

The group is committed to providing you the support needed to nurture your talent.

The Research Associate will contribute to the Royal Society University Research Fellowship URF\R1\221233 " Harnessing the Structure of Scattering Amplitudes".

Research activities include developing a better understanding of the mathematical structure of scattering amplitudes and developing more efficient methods for their computation.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • PhD (or near completion) in Physics, Theoretical Physics or Mathematical Physics.
  • Knowledge of quantum field theory and experience in perturbative calculations.
  • Knowledge of the current research frontier in one or more of the following areas: scattering amplitudes, Feynman integrals, infrared divergences, supersymmetry, positive geometries, the motivic properties of iterated integrals.
  • Experience in delivering research results in an academic context; e.g. a record of peerreviewed journal and conference presentations.
  • Capability of working independently, exercising a high degree of initiative, and demonstrating a proactive and flexible approach to work.
