    The advertised salary is for experienced Occupational Therapists: £40,833 - £48,060

    We are also open to applications from Newly qualified Occupational Therapists, salary: £38,364 - £39,951

    The London Borough of Enfield has a range of exciting opportunities within the Adult Social Care 'Locality Teams' for Occupational Therapists both experienced and newly qualified:

As the Occupational Therapy team works with children and adults, additional training and support would be offered as required.

    We are open to consideration of rotations between our different teams to build upon your skills. Currently we are using a hybrid working model utilising office and home working options.

    Skills required

  • Treating each individual service user with kindness, dignity, and respect
  • Active listening to understand a service user's condition, family circumstances and overall situation
  • Demonstrating excellent communication, negotiation and report writing skills
  • Ability to gather, understand and record accurately a service user's current presentation and difficulties that require assessment
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload, prioritise queries, resolve problems and signpost to alternative services
  • Ability to be flexible and highly adapt to a continuously changing and dynamic workload and work practices
  • Ability to apply motivation and resilience when dealing with complex and emotionally challenging situations leading to agreed outcomes
  • You will be registered with the HCPC and will hold a professional OT qualification with post qualifying experience in health and social care including community placements.

    Our work, alongside Social Workers and Social Care assessors:

  • is focused on developing optimum outcomes for our service users, which include children
  • utilises a 'strength-based approach' that identifies a service user's resources and promotes independence and well-being
  • practices in line with relevant Social Care legislation such as 'Care Act' and 'Mental Capacity Act' to promote service users' choice and control in their daily lives
  • ensures service users have meaningful, autonomous and self-determined lives that contribute to Enfield's community
  • supports service users by applying multi -disciplinary working practices across teams and services, and undertake joint assessments where appropriate
  • includes awareness and knowledge of, and signposting to, local resources that provide further support.

    'I'm Angela Osei-Owusu, Principal Occupational Therapist at Enfield council, appointed in January 2022. The Principal Occupational Therapist position is a newly created role which focuses on high quality service delivery.

    My role enables me to be the voice of OT in Adult Social Care and promote best practice in preparation for the Care Quality Commission inspection in April 2023. Enfield Council values OT and recognises the difference we can make in people's lives.

    We have excellent OT's in 8 teams, 3 OT Assistant Managers, 7 OT Team Managers, 2 OT Heads of Service and myself as Principal Occupational Therapist all equally passionate in raising the profile of Occupational Therapy. To support the increasing demand to our service additional vacancies have been created in the following teams Discharge to Assess (D2A), Enablement, Single Point of Assessment (SPA), East and West locality teams, Integrated Learning Disability team and The Accessible Housing Adaptation team .

    Enfield Council encourages innovation and creativity, supports ambitious staff to lead projects, learn specialisms and share with others. The strengths-based approach was implemented in 2019 at the front door service and continues to be embedded across all the pathways within adult social care. We have recently relaunched assistive technology, trained a cohort of champions and will continue to roll out training to increase awareness for staff and the community.
