About The Role:


Our client, The NEC Group, has five renowned entertainment venues, the NEC, The Vox, Resorts World Arena, Utilita Arena Birmingham & The ICC.

Many of the venues have been re-launched and rebranded recently to notable acclaim.


Our teams support the NEC Group during event build-ups, live show days, and much more ensuring a smooth and safe operation of all services.


This position is based at The ICC - B1 2EA


As a furniture porter supervisor, you will be responsible for the delivery of all furniture requirements and support the FM Support Manager in completing daily tasks relating to the operation of the whole furniture set up.


You will ensure that all Furniture requirements are delivered and managed to OCS standards & the client's expectations, delivering an exceptional service to all visitors.

Working times are based around events and we have day and night shifts available. (Day - working times anywhere between 6am - 4pm/Nights - working times anywhere between 6pm - 6am)


Main Duties:


  • To carry out all tasks with due regard to the contract specification and all legislation including Health & Safety, & personal hygiene
  • To set all venue furniture to the plan issued for each event, ensuring all furniture is in perfect condition and to do final checks that all furniture has been set correctly to the plans in each hall.
  • To ensure company provided uniform is kept clean & tidy and is always worn whilst at work. Identity badge must always worn & visible
  • To make sure all operatives have signed in for their shifts.
  • Ensure all services are delivered safely in line with all OCS operating standards, reporting all accidents & dangerous occurrences to your supervisor
  • Respond to standard and occasionally nonstandard requests from internal clients and suppliers
  • Ensure for the upkeep, storage, and maintenance of all on site furniture
  • Monitor & record breakages
  • Checking and maintaining all areas of responsibility
  • Maintain high level of cleanliness in all back of house furniture store
  • Communicate regularly with colleagues through formal & informal channels on safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas, & that morale remains high

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment
  • Have the ability to read a furniture floor plan and deliver as per the plan.
  • Ability to use own initiative & confident to make quick decisions
  • Computer literacy & good knowledge of Microsoft office is essential
  • Self-Motivated attitude, who can also motivate others
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Analytical problemsolving skills, with strong attention to details
  • Able to be flexible in meeting client demands regarding availability, work hours including weekends, public holidays, evening work as required
