    Job summary

    The Ministry of Defence employs over 217,000 MOD personnel (both military and civilian). Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 123,000 people located at over 300 locations in the UK and overseas.

    This post is located within the Army Aviation Centre (AACen) at Middle Wallop. The AACen is responsible for the training pipeline for, and delivers, Aviation Training, both Aircrew and Groundcrew for the Army Air Corps (AAC), as such the organisation is hugely influential in the development of Aviation war-fighting capability.

    The Course Design post sits within the Training Design Innovation and Validation (TDIV) team, providing training design functions for all AAC training conducted at Middle Wallop and promote continuous improvement across all activity.

    This role is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the training delivered to AAC soldiers and officers, ensuring that training deliverables are produced in line with the requirements set.

    Job description

    The post-holder requires a high degree of IT literacy with good communication and inter-personal skills.

  • Produce training products to include Course Training Plans (CTPs), that provide a cost effective and efficient solution to the training requirement.
  • Liaise with HQ Army Air Corps Training Development Team (TDT), other schools and external agencies on Course Design and Assurance matters.
  • Promote a sound learning environment by the practical application of knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Apply a systematic approach to training design using MOD Systems methodology.
  • Develop effective relationships with other stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the implementation of the most appropriate learning solutions.
  • Apply the principles of training design identifying various approaches required for training to different standards and promote ideas for appropriate learning solutions to suit individual needs.
  • Review and evaluate training material to maintain performance by implementing change to support future training delivery of the endorsed CTPs.
  • Attend Training Working Groups, Symposia and Exhibitions commensurate with role and as determined by your manager.
  • Brief students, instructors and staff on various aspects.
  • Assist with Course Validation as required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with grade and experience as directed by Line Manager.

    Person specification

    We are looking for someone who is willing to quickly develop an understanding of training design, validation, assurance and learning technology management and delivery.

    Working in liaison with a range of stakeholders, the post holder will use project management skills to manage assigned training development projects to deliver compliant course design material within agreed time and performance criteria.

    Contribute to the Matrix Tool (TAM) to ensure documentation management and compliance.

    Training for all duties can be provided if required.
