We offer corporate and investment banking, treasury management, as well as research and advisory services to clients around the world.     The Research department covers over 800 stocks across diverse sectors, and also provides strategy, ESG and thematic analysis to our clients. Within this, we are currently searching for an analyst for our Commodities research team in our London, UK office.

    Description

    As a Commodity Research Analyst, the successful candidate will join BMO's highly-rated commodity research team and provide insights on numerous metals and critical minerals. This research will be distributed to both investors and corporate clients. The work environment involves collaboration, co-ordination and idea generation. The analyst role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team.

    Task include

    • Writing of research reports, with both short term and long term focus
    • Contribution to thematic work, particularly around the energy transition
    • Presenting at key industry conferences and to company management team
    • Examination of industry databases and publications
    • Creation and maintenance of detailed supply/demand model
    • Analysis of macroeconomic events
    • Communication of recommendations to internal and external clients

    Experience/Skills

    • A minimum of 6 years of professional experience
    • A strong background in metals, mining & critical minerals, and the wider energy transition
    • A keen interest in research
    • Experience in equity or macro research, commodity trading or asset management is required
    • Superior verbal communication skills, with experience presenting ideas to a wide range of audiences
    • Very strong writing skills, with the ability to write under deadline
    • Intellectual curiosity, the ability to learn quickly, and strong attention to detail
    • An enhanced understanding of both physical geography and commodity trade flows
    • Superior work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently
    • Ability to systematically manage a heavy workload and meet stringent deadlines
    • Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours
    • Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg
