    Food Compliance Advisor

    Salary: £40k-£45k + Car Allowance

    Hours: 37.50 hours per week / Monday to Friday

    Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

    Location: Field Based in South of England

    The Role

    The Food Compliance Advisor is responsible for supporting and promoting understanding and compliance with Bright Horizons' Food Safety and Mealtimes Policies and Procedures, within their assigned nurseries and throughout the broader organisation.

    They play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement in food safety and quality, encompassing activities such as supporting menu development and recipe creation, investigating dietary incidents, developing training resources, and providing guidance on food-related enquiries. Additionally, they engage in regular support visits at nurseries, where they advise, support, coach, and train Early Years Chefs, kitchen staff, nursery management, and other colleagues in best practices for food safety.

    Collaborating with fellow Food Compliance Advisors and key stakeholders, this role monitors food safety compliance and fosters a positive food safety culture across our nurseries and support offices.

    What You Will Be Doing:

    • Supporting the Food Safety & Quality Team in the development and implementation of food safety and mealtimes policies and procedures.
    • Attending nurseries as part of regular support visits to provide food safety advice, coaching and guidance.
    • Leading on menu development and recipe creation, working with chefs and external suppliers.
    • Support, coach and mentor Early Years Chefs during My Bright Arrival and My Bright Journey Inductions. Support Chef recruitment where required.
    • Act as the main point of contact for all nurseries in a nominated area, supporting with all food safety related requests.
    • Supporting with the development and implementation of food safety training materials and guidance, i.e. eLearning modules, mealtime safety guidance, allergy awareness.
    • Investigate food related incidents as directed by the Food Safety Manager and provide investigation reports and risk control action plans to nursery management teams.
    • Working with nursery management (operations) to ensure that actions arising from audits, investigations and EHO inspections are completed within an allocated period.
    • Monitor, analyse trends and support nurseries in seeking continuous improvement in food safety compliance across the assigned nurseries in the area.
    • Respond to food-related queries from across the business and escalate to Food Safety Manager when required.
    • Attend nursery cluster calls and contribute to other communication channels e.g. newsletters, food safety inbox etc. to ensure that key food safety messages are effectively communicated to nurseries and support functions.
    • Support nurseries in developing risk assessments and health care plans related to food and feeding.
    • Support with new acquisitions and the employee transition to Bright Horizons Food Safety and Mealtime Policy and Procedures
    • Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders working in collaboration and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business and regulatory environment.
    • Setting the highest standards of behaviour consistent with the HEART principles.
    • Contribute to wider company projects as needed and foster a positive food safety and quality culture.

    What We Are Looking For:

    • Experience of working in a food safety/compliance related role, preferably as an advisor within a catering environment.
    • Experience working within a multi-site environment.
    • Experience of working as a Chef (desirable), preferably in early years environment.
    • Experience of menu development (desirable), ideally in early years.
    • Experience working with adults in a coaching / training capacity
    • Ability to work independently and prioritise.
    • Proven record in effectively undertaking the key tasks to the role, leading best practice and making a difference.
    • Sound understanding of food safety management systems e.g. HACCP

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 years working in food safety related role.
    • Level 3 Food Safety or equivalent (Level 4 Desirable)
    • Experience of working with adults in a coaching / training capacity
    • Full clean driving licence
