- Project Management: Manage the engineering design process from start to finish, including approval reports, consultation, legal requirements, and on-site implementation. Ensure projects are delivered within time, quality, and cost constraints.
- Design Development: Develop CAD designs for highway schemes in accordance with current design guidance and legislation. This includes traffic calming measures and Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) schemes.
- TRO Management: Oversee the management and delivery of TRO schemes, including liaising with Legal Services and maintaining TRO records using GIS-based mapping systems.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with residents, businesses, stakeholders, and elected members throughout project duration. Respond to enquiries and complaints via telephone, email, letter, and face-to-face consultation events.

- Financial Management: Monitor and control income and expenditure related to projects, services, and budgets. Display strong financial management skills to ensure efficient resource allocation.

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in highway and traffic engineering, with a focus on CAD design and project management.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, design guidance, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in GIS-based mapping systems and CAD software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Sound financial management skills, including budget monitoring and control.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and CDM requirements.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Traffic Engineer to join our team.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of small highway and traffic engineering schemes, as well as providing support for larger projects.
