Scarisbrick Hall School is in search of an Early Years Teaching Assistant for Reception.


JOB PURPOSE




RESPONSIBLE TO:
EYFS Leadership team

To assist in implementing an engaging curriculum within the EYFS.

To support our Education in Harmony with Nature approach.

To collaborate with colleagues to ensure Excellence in all our endeavors.


PAY GRADE
Negotiable based on expertise and experience


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential
Minimum NVQ level 3 in Childcare and/or Education or equivalent

A strong grasp of child development and methods of early childhood learning.

A keen interest in outdoor education and its advantages.

Ability to deliver exceptional childcare and education.

Outgoing, patient, positive, and enthusiastic about engaging with children.

Effective communicator who can use initiative and follow instructions.

Adept at positively and calmly managing children's behavior.

Solid understanding of the Early Years Framework.

Experience with National phonics and numeracy strategies

Proficiency in ICT

Evidence of CPD and current knowledge in Child development and learning.


Desirable
Additional qualifications up to and including QTS

Evidence of implementing literacy and numeracy strategies for individuals and small groups

Evidence of utilizing ICT to enrich learning experiences

Demonstrated history of contributing to a successful team

Evidence of training and background in assisting children with additional needs.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute within a classroom setting to support the delivery of an outstanding curriculum.
  • Work both independently and cooperatively with colleagues to assist and provide learning opportunities, contributing to the formulation of learning programs that promote excellent teaching and learning.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with children, serving as a positive role model and addressing individual needs effectively.
  • Offer input into planning and assessing learning activities for individuals to aid teaching staff in making informed decisions during their lesson planning.
  • Ensure the effective supervision and safety of children, including during educational outings.
  • Track the progress, accomplishments, and development of individual students, reporting these findings to aid in the creation of Individual Education Plans, Behavior Plans, and Personal Care Programs for children.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers in collaboration with teaching staff to ensure clear communication regarding the students' welfare and education.
  • Maintain records as directed by teaching staff/line manager to uphold the school's information systems.
  • Address the personal and physical requirements of all students to preserve their health and well-being.
  • Prepare and manage educational resources and keep the classroom organized to meet learning objectives within a safe environment that adheres to relevant health and safety standards.
  • Showcase and exhibit children's work, following the guidance of teaching staff, to enhance the classroom ambiance and celebrate accomplishments.
  • Assist in supervising children, including pre and post-school activities, lunchtimes, such as clubs and extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and development sessions (occasionally held on Saturdays) and performance reviews as needed.
