Legal Senior Associate- Commercial - Manchester, United Kingdom - DLA Piper
Description
The team is one of the leading international trade law teams in the UK and works closely across DLA Piper's global platform, particularly with our lawyers in Washington D.Brussels, Singapore and Dubai.
The role will focus on a combination of sanctions, export control and customs work, but will also involve advising on other aspects of UK trade laws.
Providing practical, commercial advice on UK and EU economic and trade sanctions, export controls and customs.Representing clients in connection with cross-border internal and external investigations involving allegations of sanctions or export control violations.
Advising clients operating in a range of sectors, including manufacturing, consumer goods, technology and energy on developing, implementing, and maintaining effective sanctions, export control and customs compliance programs.
The role can be based in any of our UK offices but will also require travel to client sites and our other international offices from time to time.
As part of our market leading global team, candidates will enjoy a high-quality range of work including, but not be limited to:Advising on UK an EU financial and trade sanctions laws and regulations
Advising on UK and EU export control laws and regulations
Representing clients in connection with cross-border internal and external investigations involving allegations of sanctions or export control violations
Advising clients operating in a range of sectors, including manufacturing, consumer goods, technology and energy on developing, implementing, and maintaining effective sanctions, export control and customs compliance programs
have experience in sanctions, export controls and customs at a leading firm
be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the technical issues in these fields that are key to clients
non-English language skills are highly desirable
be capable of building and developing their own network of internal and external contacts
draft documents using a commercial, client focussed style
comply with professional standards and all relevant regulatory obligations
comply with the firm's systems, policies and procedures in all matters – including compliance, financial systems and time recording; Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news
Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
Builds and develops own network of internal and external contacts
