- Develop and expand your knowledge and skills within the realm of vehicle structures, evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assignments of limited complexity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine adaptations to standard practices, demonstrating sound engineering judgment in the execution of assigned tasks.
- Take ownership of relevant sections within vehicle structures, including occupant cell, crash management, subframes, and structural floors.
- Manage the interface with styling to ensure seamless integration of design elements with engineering requirements.
- Lead the engineering responsibility for the design and release of full vehicle body systems, ensuring compliance with legal standards and internal specifications.
- Utilize design for manufacture and assembly principles to optimize component production processes and facilitate efficient assembly.
- Conduct design sizing analysis, including subsystem loads, joints and interfaces, materials selection, and bolt calculations, to ensure structural integrity and performance.
- Manage work packages, including defining schedules, budgets, and deliverables, to ensure project objectives are met within established parameters.
- Assist in determining schedules and budgets for familiar tasks, receiving instruction on specific objectives and direction on unconventional or complex problems.
- Prepare portions of project documentation, including models, drawings, and reports, and assist with a wide variety of tasks across departments and functions as required.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience in design engineering or related roles within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in 3D package modeling software.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, materials selection, and design analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements in automotive engineering.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
