    Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

    SSE Distributed Energy's vision is to invest, construct, own, operate, maintain and optimize local energy infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. SSE DE digital services is supporting this vision and is creating an in-house technology team to be independent and self sufficient in delivering these objectives.

    Working within our Digital Services team, as a Front End Developer ) you will be tasked with designing, developing and deploying code and new front-end services into AWS according to industry standards and specifications. You will be responsible for Designing and Developing AWS quicksight reports, which can be consumed directly or through a UI (via API functions).

    Your responsibilities will include:
    • Develop and maintain customer facing UI and frontend solutions, participating in overall application lifecycle to support the business, as identified by the IT Business Partner, Project Managers and Business Analysts. Primarily using
    • Define the UX for new requests and changes required to the existing ones. Diagnose and resolve problems with frontend systems (both Business and third party) in the production environment, Assisting team members in the fixing of faults as appropriate.
    • Undertake personal responsibility for information security by ensuring that rules and practices are identified (non-functional requirements).
    • Support any business bids to ensure that the technology capabilities can be delivered.
    What do I need?

    To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
    • Experience from a similar development role in creating and supporting business critical/complex systems in a large organisation and demonstrates an all-encompassing breadth and depth of knowledge and experience. Experience is adopting the organisations policies and procedures and enhancing them to meet the business needs.
    • Experienced in developing and maintaining solutions on AWS (Postgress SQL / API / RDS / Lamda using , , , Python and java) and knowledge of Microsoft technologies - e.g. C# / SQL which support AWS development. Experienced in creating SaaS solution / websites and microsites as required.
    • Awareness of data integrity, data protection and data security threats
    • Able to take ownership of problems and requests as well as the ability to work in a pressurised environment
    • Strong written, verbal and design skills
