    Purpose

    Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

    The purpose of the Community Outreach Officer – Mental Health role is to design and coordinate all aspects of CITC's Mental Health provision, and work across programme areas to ensure that mental health awareness, support and understanding is embedded across all CITC programmes

    Accountabilities

  • Design and coordinate a weekly programme of inclusive projects to engage participants across a wide range of ages, social backgrounds and abilities and including face to face sessions and remote/online learning.
  • To work closely with key stakeholders within CITC, CFG and Premier League to support development of CITC's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and implementation of the EDI delivery plan to ensure that mental health support is embedded across the foundation.
  • Report on set KPIs and outcomes associated with each project to develop, maintain and grow a strong working relationship with the NHS, Premier League Charitable Fund, Cityzens Giving and any additional funders.
  • Create, maintain and develop relationships with internal partners from CITC and the wider City Football Group (CFG), local authorities and governing bodies to develop CITC's reputation and reach, promoting all CITC programmes across Manchester.
  • To support staff development across CITC programmes, identifying and providing training and CPD opportunities which continuously improve the standard of delivery on the programmes.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Essential

  • In-depth understanding of coaching community-based programmes, specifically using sport to support and improve young people's mental health.
  • Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, community organisations, local government departments and external funding partners
  • Experience of managing a team, preferably with some remote line management
  • Experience of delivering CPD training for team members and other professionals
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • GCSEs in English, Maths and Science
  • Competent across Microsoft office
  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement
  • Resilient and adaptable to change
  • Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
  • Desirable

  • Degree level education in relevant field
  • Coaching Level 2 qualification in one other relevant sport
  • Experience of coordinating Premier League Charitable Fund programmes and achieving associated KPI's and outcomes
  • Specific knowledge of Youth Work theory and outcomes.

  • Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects
  • Budget management and reporting
