    Airbus Helicopters is the world's largest helicopter manufacturer and the company's site at Oxford Airport is Britain's civil helicopter hub.

    AHUK has provided extensive expertise for over 40 years to the UK Civil and Military helicopter market delivering helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military aircraft.

    AHUK is the MoD's chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its No. 1 Helicopter Flying School (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

    Description/Overall purpose of the Job

    The Quality Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of AHUK Aviation Safety and Quality Departments Quality Safety Management Systems across the breath of AHUK's approval base. The role requires occasional travel within the UK and worldwide locations.

    Main responsibilities

    The Aviation Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for management of the Company's Aviation Safety and Quality Department including:

    • Liaising with the UK CAA, BCAR, EASA, FAA and Military Regulators.
    • Overseeing the Design, Production, Maintenance, Training and CAMO Approvals (21J,21G, 145, 147 and Part CAMO, BCAR and Military equivalents).
    • Managing the Quality Management System (ISO 9001, EN9100, 9110, 9120 and AQAP 2110, ISO 14001, ISO
    • To develop, deliver and maintain a risk based audit program to cover all regulatory requirements in the required period, carried out as planned and on time, to show full compliance with the regulations.
    • To ensure non-conformities and non-compliances are addressed in a timely manner by the relevant departments and the verifying of corrective actions.
    • To ensure that the assessment of sub-contractor and contracting companies is conducted and acted upon.
    • To ensure that the assessment of all suppliers is conducted and acted upon.
    • To ensure the notifying the Accountable Manager of any discrepancies, regulatory changes, quality escapes, notifiable findings that affect AHUK is communicated in a timely manner.
    • To ensure the records of training and experience of maintenance, pilots and design employees are maintained and the issuing and control of authorisations is carried out correctly.
    • To ensure the amending and monitoring of the Quality Manual, expositions, handbooks and procedures is carried out and meets the required level of compliance with the appropriate regulations.
    • To control and maintain the Company document control system.
    • To ensure that audits carried out by customers and NAA regulators prove a high level of compliance in AHUK and findings are addressed within the prescribed time requirements.
    • The Quality Manager is responsible for a team of Quality Auditors who are delegated responsibilities, and are competent and appropriately authorised.

    Knowledge and Skills

    Essential

    • It is a requirement for the role that all applicants must have a considerable amount of experience within the aviation industry - specifically in aircraft Design, Production and Maintenance.
    • Extensive experience as Form 4 holder Quality Manager, previously accepted by UK CAA.
    • Good knowledge of Civil and Military Aviation, Design, Production & Maintenance, with a greater than standard knowledge of the regulations, and in addition the ISO 9100 suite.
    • Attention to detail with an investigative and enquiring mind-set.
    • Lead Auditor trained and a comprehensive track record in successful delivery.
    • Knowledge of budget and financial planning.
    • Proven track record of managing a team.

    Desirable

    • The ability to change approach and the ability to offer alternative solutions and a general sense of optimism.

    Education, Qualifications or Training

    Essential

    • Educated to GCSE level in English, Maths, Science and/or a recognised engineering Qualification (HNC etc.).
    • Qualifications in Aviation Safety and Quality (Quality Diploma or similar).
    • Formal civil and military regulatory training (UKCAA/ EASA 145, Part CAMO, Part 21J & 21G, Part 147, Aviation Safety (SMS)and military equivalents).
    • Maintenance error investigative techniques.
    • Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable

    • Formal People Management Qualification
    • Computer skills courses (Google Suite, Envision, SAP, etc.)

    Additional requirements

    • Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance
