The Associate Vice President for Student Affairs is responsible to the Provost & Executive Vice President for the leadership and management of all staff and activities within their purview.

The Associate Vice President provides the vision, direction, and advocacy to develop and maintain programs which facilitate student educational success.

Areas supervised include Enrollment Services (comprising Academic Advising, Admissions, Enrollment Communications, Financial Aid, Testing Services, and the Registrar), Student Services (comprising The Accessibility Office, Career Services, Counseling Services, and the KEYS program), and the Offices of Student Life and Athletics.


Primary Functions:

  • Provide leadership and supervision for all areas of assigned responsibility (Enrollment Services, Student Services, and the Offices of Student Life and Athletics) including personnel management (hiring, evaluating, coaching and professional development), performance reporting and assessment.
  • Ensure that College policies and procedures are adhered to and that all practices follow appropriate federal and state regulations. Provide training for college staff as needed to ensure compliance with FERPA.
  • Provide leadership in advancing and implementing the College's Strategic Enrollment Plan. Evaluate the effectiveness of policies/practices, management systems, programs and services through quality improvement benchmarks and by assessing outcomes.
  • Oversee the development of goals and objectives for all areas of responsibility, for unit and strategic planning, especially appropriate recruitment tactical plans.
  • Develop and effectively administer the budget, including forecasting, planning, monitoring of expenditures.
  • Evaluate and approve or deny outofcounty to incounty student residency status for tuition billing.
  • Lead efforts to provide superior college experience for all students.

Secondary Functions:

  • Stay abreast of best practices and developments in Enrollment Management, Recruitment, Financial Aid, and Student Services.
  • Participate on collegewide committees and community service boards as requested.
  • Other special projects/duties assigned.
  • Salary range: $95,042 $125,228 (commensurate with experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required. Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in administrative leadership and in the delivery of student and/or enrollment services. A breadth of experience in multiple student/enrollment service areas preferred. Community college experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated successful record of administration including planning, assessment, use of innovative technology, and the ability to manage change.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current admissions, recruitment and enrollment trends, issues, strategies, and techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compliance related issues/regulations.
  • Knowledge of student services areas that impact upon enrollment (e.g., Academic Advising).
  • Excellent team leadership and management skills, including ability to motivate employees, build consensus, evaluate their performance, and facilitate training and professional development.
  • Demonstrated high quality oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills/technology skills. Ellucian Colleague and/or Workday experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel between campuses and work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships within/outside of the institution.
