    We are looking to recruit an Experienced Finanace Manager for great clients of ours. You will be based at their Seconday School in Wanstead.

    This is a Permanent Role and to start ASAP.

    36 hours per week, term time including 5 inset days plus 3 weeks

    LBR 10, Scale £38,997 - £40,913 per annum

    Job Description


    To manage the day-to-day financial transactions of the school, accurately and on time, in order to assist with the smooth running of the school's finances.

    To prepare the management accounts and statutory returns and to manage the Year End process.

    To work closely with the School Business Manager to ensure reports and statutory returns are produced and submitted within required timescales.

    Key Responsibilities: 1. Administration of bank accounts to include:
    • Daily monitoring of transactions to ensure consistent with expectations;
    • Review of weekly and monthly reconciliations;
    • Monitor cash flow 2.
    To oversee the Accounts Payable process and to check and provide dual control of all payments. 3. To oversee the Sales Ledger process including the review of invoices. 4.


    Payroll:

    • To process payroll adjustments on a monthly basis in line with the set timetable;
    • To check the pre-payroll report each month;
    • To verify payroll reports from the payroll provider (bi-annual reconciliation to SIMS data). 5. To oversee the financial administration of the trip process e working closely with the finance officer
    • Oversee management of ParentPay, parental cashless payment system.

    Financial administration of pupil specific pupil premium expenditure to include:

    • Ensuring claims are appropriately authorised;
    • Recording claims and organising purchase or reimbursement;
    • Liaising with parents as required. 7. To manage the digital payment process including managing and updating the bank mandates and digital banking users.8.

    Month End Processes and Reporting:

    • To oversee the month end process ensuring that all reconciliations have been undertaken and independently reviewed;
    • To prepare monthly management accounts for the school for use of Governors, Headteacher and School Business Manager;
    • To provide summary reports to line managers of actual expenditure compared to budgets. 9. To undertake forward budget planning, including preparation of annual forecasts and budgets, in consultation with the School Business Manager and in line with financial guidelines associated with a maintained school 10. To co-ordinate the Year End closing process, to include:
    • Accruals and prepayments, receipts in advance and deferred income;
    • Analytical review of income and expenditure;
    • To prepare year end schedules for LA auditors;
    • Rolling forward the datafile on Arbor finance to the new financial year.

    To act as key contact with LA auditors:

    • Ensuring all information is provided on a timely basis
    • Responding to queries promptly;
    • Checking the year-end financial statements and management letter for accuracy and escalating any errors or omissions. 12. To prepare the statutory returns required by the ESFA in line with published timetables issued by the LA. 13. To oversee the monthly VAT returns on time. To assist the School Business Manager on VAT implications of new capital projects or activities liaising with external professionals as necessary. 16. To manage and oversee the duties of the Finance team and undertake appraisal reviews in accordance with school procedures
    Other duties: 1.

    To prepare any other ad-hoc financial reports and information as required for the Governors, Headteacher and School Business Manager; 2.

    To review accounting guidance as issued and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance with new requirements; 3. To produce termly reports on fundraising totals within the school fund; 4.

    To provide support and guidance to the Finance staff relating to accounting and bookkeeping best practice relevant to the school, including the chart of accounts and month/year end procedures; 5.

    To assist staff, students and parents with enquiries; 6.

    To maintain registers of contracts and other financial agreements, and provide information regarding costs, contract terms and performance as required; 7.

    To assist in the negotiation of service agreements working with facilities staff and other finance team members as appropriate


    General Points:

    • To follow agreed procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant policies and processes.
    • To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-rated matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.
    • To carry out any other duties as may from time to time be requested.
