    THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 9 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING.

    Part of the Strategy, Planning and Corporate Affairs Division, the PMO is a central resource that supports all Directorates and Divisions across Public Health Wales to manage their programmes and projects effectively. The PMO is currently looking for a Programme Manager on a secondment or fixed term appointment to 31st March 2025.

    If successful, you'll be involved in managing some of the strategic change programmes key to the delivery of Public Health Wales' Long Term Strategy ranging from service transformation programmes such as Tackling Diabetes Together Programme to developing a business case for new services such as the National Targeted Lung Cancer Screening

    You'll also play an important role in the team providing assurance that programmes and projects are well managed and strengthening the profession within Public Health Wales

    We're looking for someone who has been working at a senior project manager or programme manager position who is enthusiastic to develop their skill set and apply their professional knowledge and experience to deliver key organisational wide change programmes

    Main duties of the job

    To programme manage the implementation of their respective programme

    Undertake a lead role in co-ordinating the development of relevant services including (but not limited to) educational, professional and technical issues across Wales.

    Identify and understand the needs of stakeholders and provide sound judgement and diplomatic skills

    Manage the production of the various work-packages which constitute the programme and subsequently develop forward work to deliver programme objectives.

    Co-ordinate the activities of relevant programme Boards and other forums

    Prepare Programme, Project, Stage and as required Exception Plans, in consultation with the Programme Board.

    Be responsible for the overall progress of the Programme and use of resources, initiating corrective action where appropriate

    Provide verbal and written reports as requested by Welsh Assembly Government Ministers, Programme SRO, Programme Director and Public Health Wales Executives.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registered PPM Professional - PRINCE2, APM and MSP or equivalent
  • Educated to relevant Masters Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Appropriate demonstrable experience ( experience working in a similar environment).
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. ECDL Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Management experience in a senior role including staff management
  • Experience of successfully leading and implementing projects / programmes at a national level.
  • Expertise in delivering project and programme management services and tailoring methodologies to suite the local environment
  • Experience of managing budgets.
  • Experience of working with commercial suppliers and external agencies.
  • Experience of successfully leading and implementing project driven change management
  • Desirable

  • Ability to communicate highly complex technical concepts and analysis effectively to different organisations and audiences; including formal presentations Board level and UK wide conferences.
