Job Description:

The role may be based in our London, Glasgow or Cardiff offices.


Your role

As Grid Connections Specialist, you will:

  • Identify optimum grid connection solutions and ensure learnings and experience are applied to grid connection strategies.
  • Assist with negotiating grid technical requirements and preparation of contractual documentation
  • Engage with TOs, DNOs and industry to support the wider development strategy
  • Provide technical advice to developers and project managers to support the technical development of their projects

your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising the wider team and project developers, providing technical assistance throughout the life cycle of projects.
  • Developing and maintaining contacts with TOs, DNOs and governmental agencies related to the grid connections process.
  • Producing grid connection feasibility studies and assisting in the development and delivery of the grid connection strategy for the existing portfolio and new opportunities.
  • Interpreting Grid Code and Distribution Code requirements and managing compliance through the connection process.
  • Providing specialist support to both the Development and Grid project teams in relation to the Connection and Use of System Code, the Balancing and Settlement Code, the Security and Quality of Supply Standard, and generation, distribution and transmission licencing arrangements. Plus other relevant grid documentation as required.
  • Contributing to the development of synergies between the different technologies in the portfolio.
  • Identifying the need for specialist external consultancy support, managing the technical aspects of procurement, including drafting work scopes and undertaking technical assessment of proposals.
  • Undertaking bespoke technical analysis to support the development team.

Qualifications:


  • Substantial experience in the grid connection of major renewable generation projects, and / or experience in a grid connection role
  • Good technical knowledge of the operation and challenges associated with electricity transmission and distribution systems
  • Knowledge of key aspects of the applicable regulatory regimes
  • Knowledge of wind/solar farms, battery storage assets, distribution and transmission assets, electrical system design process and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Power Systems Engineering experience and / or qualification would be desirable.
