    Description
    Pure are delighted to be working with a leading Global manufacturer based in Chelmsford.

    It supplies a wide range of industries across the world, and due to continued expansion they are now seeking an experienced Process Engineer on a permanent basis.

    The Process Engineering Team provides full product lifecycle support across a common process that enable manufacturing of vacuum devices, used in commercial, defence and novel applications.

    Your role will be reporting directly to the Engineering Manager as part of a wider product stream.

    There are two primary aspects of the role:

    Support manufacturing in meeting production output, on time delivery (OTD) whilst adhering to strict quality standards.

    Optimisation and continuous improvement of processes.

    Additional roles may include; the control of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, continuous improvement activities, product failure analysis and reporting on customer returns.

    There are opportunities to develop knowledge and skills within several unique sectors such as vacuum processes, the use of exotic materials and many processes unique to our business.


    Your main accountabilities will include;

    Working alongside other functions, support manufacturing to achieve business objectives/KPIs:
    Improve product quality.
    MPS Adherence
    Price of Non-conformance (PoNC); scrap, warranty and rework.
    On-time in full delivery to customer (OTIF)
    Undertake development activities in line with Project Plans.

    Implementing short- and long- term solutions utilising engineering change management processes:
    Technical drawings
    BoM and routings
    Deviation management
    Implement and sustain documentation adhering to ISO9001 standards including but not limited to:
    Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    Risk and COSHH assessments
    DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans
    Plan and implement continuous improvement activities, challenge convention where necessary.
    Customer returns – failure investigation to root cause, trend analysis, technical corrective actions.
    Creation of specifications, justification and subsequent qualification of CAPEX projects.
    Contribution to bid and contract review process.

    The ideal applicant will possess the following experience, qualifications, and competencies;

    Essential
    A minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
    Proven ability to design jigging and assemblies for manufacturing
    A working knowledge in at least one of the followin

    electrical assembly, mechanical assembly, manufacturing or RF testing.
    Demonstrable experience in technical report writing.
    Methodical and statistical approach to problem solving and data analysis.
    Strong communication skills
    Proven ability to adhere to strict deadlines in high-pressure situations.
    Computer Literate (Windows / MS Office)
    Desired

    Any of the design for:
    manufacture (DFM), assembly (DFA) or test (DFT).
    Materials and their properties; grain structures, annealing temperatures, vacuum compatibility, etc.
    Chemistry knowledge, at any level.
    Thermodynamics and its impact upon material properties and manufacturing processes.
    Joining techniques (TIG welding, brazing, induction heating)
    Manufacturing (electrical/electronic) – HV, soldering, waveguides, test methodologies (scopes, analysers, power meters, attenuation, etc.)

    Understanding of the quality and problem solving toolsets:

    CI, Lean & Six Sigma methodology, 8D, A3, Root Cause Analysis.
    Degree in a relevant subject (engineering, physics or chemistry related) or equivalent qualification.
    Consideration will be given to relevant workplace experience in lieu of formal qualifications
    This is a full time, permanent position working Monday to Friday. The position offers a competitive salary plus excellent benefits.
