    We have an opportunity for a Environment And Sustainability Advisor for The HS2, N1/ N2 project which covers the northern 90km section of Phase 1 of the overall HS2 scheme to provide a new high-speed rail connection
    between London and the North of England.

    You will provide support and advice to operational teams on all aspects of environmental management, with a focus on waste management and treatment,
    developing environmental documentation, meeting legal and company standards, and helping deliver a culture of continual impro vement.
    Understand and work with Clients and Regulators to ensure their environmental requirements are c omplied with. Support on site mitigation,
    sustainability of works and engagement with local stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and members of the public

    What you'll be doing

    Assist with value adding environment projects and support ecological enhancements
    Produce and update environmental management plans and environmental risk assessments
    Provide on-site advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance and project specific mitigation measures
    including pollution control and ecology protection
    Investigate environmental incidents and support the business to implement controls to prevent repeat occurrence
    Carry out environmental audits and inspections on a periodic basis to meet the project objectives and targets
    Work with project teams to ensure that environmental consents and permits are in place for all activities where they are
    required and that permit conditions are complied with

    Who we're looking for

    Strong knowledge of environment and sustainability management
    Educated to degree level in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or suitable industry experience
    Practical experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, ecology mitigation, environmental licences and consent applications and
    regulators
    Understanding of ecological matters and environmental law
    PIEEM, or IEMA Membership
    Commercial awareness
    Full UK drivers licence and flexibility to travel
    Understanding of the utilities/construction/civil engineering operating environment
    Literate in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook and supporting software packages
    Good interpersonal skills
    Desirable:
    Internal environmental auditor qualification
    Masters degree in relevant field
    WAMITAB Level 4
    NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
    Knowledge of the Construction and Civil Engineering Industry
