Project Aims:

  • Increasing participation in targeted lung health checks by those aged 5575 who are smokers or exsmokers.
  • Increasing awareness of the higher risk of lung cancer for this group and the benefit of attending the lung health check to intervene early.
  • Targeting messages about the programme to the highrisk group particularly around early diagnosis leading to more curative treatment and reduced burden on the NHS and carers.
  • Decreasing stigma associated with lung cancer and smoking and promoting smoking cessation opportunities.
  • Increasing awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer and encourage attendance at primary care.
  • Signposting to services and programmes where appropriate (increase participation in screening programmes and smoking cessation services).
  • Gaining an understanding of barriers to participation in TLHC.
  • Building a profile of participants wants and needs.
  • Receiving focus group feedback around communications and engagement materials.
