    Overview of role

    Location: Stockport

    The job is a front line managerial role in Despatch, reporting to the Warehouse Manager, and will involve directly managing a team.

    The job holder will provide the team with the leadership and direction needed to deliver the business' targets for the site. By focusing on individual and team involvement you will develop a positive climate where all employees are able and motivated to contribute by actively recognising and identifying individual and team performance.

    You will also be responsible for ensuring the team correctly administers and reconciles all incoming goods into Despatch, controls, allocate and picks stock as per customer requirements and correctly loads and administers all departing vehicles in a safe manner whilst controlling costs.

    Key Accountabilities

  • Set clear goals, targets and expectations of performance for all Despatch Operatives and Despatch Coordinators on your shifts to ensure all relevant KPI's are met.
  • Ensure all shift members are aware of and complying with environmental, health and safety, legal and company standards and requirements and that all shifts operate in compliance with them.
  • Ensure optimal labour utilisation, by making best use of the company Warehouse Management Systems and labour flexibility.
  • Recruit, train and develop Operatives and Coordinators who reflect the Company's Values and who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and qualifications to perform effectively.
  • Execute continuous improvement action plans (e.g. PDP initiatives, productivity improvements, Pulse survey etc) to ensure that CI targets are achieved.
  • Ensure that any service issues arising are addressed promptly and where appropriate, escalated, prepare and present solid and reliable key information at various meetings/reviews.
  • Build and develop effective relationships with other teams on site to ensure cross functional working and the optimal performance of the function is achieved.

  • Previous experience in a warehousing operation.
  • Previous supervisory/management experience in a comparable blue chip, FMCG role desirable.
  • PC literate, including a working ability with Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Word, capable of using Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
