    Core PE

We are incredibly proud of the curriculum development we have built as a team over the last 4 years. We have adopted a concepts curriculum which looks to build upon student's fundamental movement skills to establish a physically literate student. We aim for our students to leave the Academy as confident, physically literate students who have a knowledge and understanding of why and how the body works to be able to participate in a wide range of sports, as well as a basic understanding of skills and tactics in these sporting activities. Our assessment criteria reflects the need for students to not just physically flourish, but to develop the student holistically. We adopted the "Head, Heart, Hands" model to ensure all students are accounted for in assessments. By KS4, we give onus to the students select a pathway based upon their own sporting interests, with a wide range of opportunities on offer such as leadership events, coaching awards and healthy active lifestyles units of work. We continually update and review our curriculum to allow for change to suit the needs of all our learners.

In Years 7-9 students have 4 periods per fortnight and in Years10 and 11 they have 3 periods per fortnight.
