The role:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us at our Wigan site working in one of our production sites and providing transport assistance and administration to the transport operation.


Always ensuring these duties are completed in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, including PPE, Food Safety, Health and Safety, 'clean as you go' and 'Good Manufacturing Practices'.


Duties:


  • To provide assistance to the transport operation including briefing and debriefing of drivers prior to despatch and following return to site, analysing driver tachograph cards on return looking for infringements, data input and tracking of Bakkavor vehicles.
  • In the absence of the transport coordinator route planning of vehicles to customer delivery/collection points as and when required ensuring no empty running. Actively seeking backloads to generate external revenue.
  • Take a proactive approach to maintain a good working relationship with suppliers and customers both internal and external.
  • Collate data from business systems to produce and communicate daily and weekly reports / KPI's.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations as and when required at the time of the accident or incident, save data relating to the accident/incident and communicate to senior members of the team.
  • Monitor, report and escalate defects, in line with the procedures to keep the fleet compliant in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS), liaising with Senior Transport Administrator and the Transport Operations Supervisor. Conduct POD sign out and count back, noting any deviations.
  • Assist the Transport Operations Supervisor and Transport Coordinators with any day to day transport tasks as and when needed.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • The ability to understand and pass, as a minimum, entry level English & numeracy & data accuracy requirements
  • Right to work documentation
  • Experience of working in an administrative role, with a good understanding and ability to use computer systems
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills verbal / written / listening
  • Ability to work to tight and changing deadlines
  • Have a flexible approach to work and hours
  • Ability to understand and adhere to health and safety requirements
  • Able to carry out duties in line with Occupational Health requirements
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene standards
