    Role description

    The on site role will have dual purpose.

    • To supervise and carry out the dispensing processes for CBMP on site in a large new premises in Winnesh, just on the outskirts of Reading. The dispensing of CMBP is subject to strict regulations to prevent the diversion and misuse, as well as being unlicensed medicines.
    • A clinical pharmacist working for Montu will work within their clinical competencies as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide expertise in clinical medicines management, provide structured remote consultations & medication reviews, management of medicines on transfer of care and systems for safer prescribing, and working with the wider clinical and non clinical team to ensure the safe prescribing and dispensing of patients on CBPM. This role is pivotal to improving the quality of care and operational efficiencies so requires motivation and passion to deliver an excellent service.
    • Please note: This role will include travel to our site in Scotland for training which will include 2-3 days a week on alternate weeks for the first two months in role. Travel costs will be covered

    Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to :

    • Clinically checking prescriptions for CBMP.
    • Ensuring imported CBMP is available for patients in a timely manner.
    • Ensuring all regulations are met with respect to ordering, receiving, storing and supplying CBMP.
    • Maintaining the necessary records required for CBMP to GPHC standards.
    • Ensure patients have the relevant information and counselling to use CBMP safely, including advice on using equipment such as vaporisors.
    • Providing advice on availability of CBMP to all prescribers to minimise disruption of supply to patients.
    • Work with various stakeholders to ensure supply of CBMP is as safe as possible, including importers and CDAO.
    • To maintain security of CBMP whilst working as a Responsible Pharmacist.
    • Supervise the work of other pharmacy colleagues.
    • Remote consultations with patients who have already been prescribed CBPM and need regular monitoring and follow up
    • Work closely with consultants and other clinicians as part of an MDT team to manage and monitor safe prescribing in line with guidelines
    • Work closely with partner pharmacies to ensure smooth dispensing and delivery of medication to patients
    • Work with Medical Director and Head of Governance to manage and develop policies relating to medicines management, prescribing audit and other relevant policies
    • Manage the repeat prescribing reauthorisation process by reviewing patient requests for repeat prescriptions and reviewing medicines reaching review dates and flagging up those needing a review.
    • Undertake clinical audits of prescribing
    • Maintain patients' electronic health records
    • Implement changes to medicines that result from MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other local and national guidance
    • To contribute to the efficient running and profitability of the service by monitoring and auditing of medicines
    • Attend work related meetings as required
    • To maintain all mandatory training and familiarity with company policies and SOPS
    • Shift based and flexible working maybe required from time to time

    Skills, Experience, and Qualification:

    • A UK qualified, registered Pharmacist with a valid GPhC Number.
    • Ideally Undertaken CPD-accredited medical cannabis educational programme. Though this will be provided for the successful candidate
    • In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of CBPM
    • Self-motivated individual with high levels of attention to detail
    • Professional, ethical and committed to providing excellent customer care
    • Excellent computer literacy with good working knowledge of office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Excellent communication skills and confidence at interacting with patients remotely
