    Commercial Inventory Operations Manager

    Reporting of the Role

    This role reports to Head of Commercial Inventory Operations.

    Overview of job

    Sitting within Commercial Operations, the CIO team manage all Global Radio's broadcast inventory, which is around 11 minutes 30 seconds of advertising per hour. The team's objective is to manage capacity ensuring there is enough space to deliver the commercial forecast whilst adhering to Programming guidelines.

    To effectively manage Global's commercial inventory, the team work closely with the commercial teams to ensure demand is sustainable and matches available capacity/supply.

    Measures of success –

    In the first few months, you would have:

    • Manage the inventory allocations and reserves across the networks.
    • Utilise CIO tools and gLab reports to make informed decisions on inventory management.
    • Contribute to weekly National Media Executive meeting.
    • Develop an understanding gPlan to assist with booking enquiries.
    • Establish a good working relationship with the Media Executives, Commercial Scheduling Team Leaders and your Commercial Inventory team members.

    Responsibilities of the role

    • Manage the commercial inventory across the audio portfolio. This will include advising on commercial minutage policy and administering national/local allocations and any reserves. Network responsibilities can change.
    • Provide pro-active guidance to the media executive and account managers to ensure bookings have an optimal laydown to make the best use of Global's commercial inventory, whilst meeting the advertiser/campaign objectives.
    • Support the Media Executives to secure airtime during periods of 'oversell' and high demand.
    • Working closely with Commercial Scheduling System and Programming to ensure the Commercial Log templates meet commercial and programming needs.
    • Work with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (Mediatel, IPSOS, RAJAR) to ensure that the RAJAR trading audiences are correct, reflect commercial requirements and can be traded using J-et.
    • Work with CIO and the wider Operations/Commercial team to shape and deliver the Commercial OKRs.

    What you will need

    The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

    • A good problem solver with a growth mindset that questions the status quo and aims for operational excellence.
    • Robust project management, with an organised and methodical approach to tasks.
    • Proven ability to develop relationships across many teams and departments demonstrating confidence and strong influencing & negotiation skills.
    • Demonstrate a fair and consistent approach when dealing with sales teams and tricky requests for airtime.
    • To be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written to teams within Global - being clear and concise is key.
    • Have a keen eye for detail and be able to analyse data using gLabs to make informed decisions and justify an approach to others.
    • Have a curiosity to learn Tableau and/or Excel to use data to help make better decisions and understand why.
    • Demonstrate - a good blend of systems/process skills and softer people skills.
    • Super-Organised & great attention to detail.
    • Although not essential a good knowledge of RAJAR would be useful.
