Health and Safety Manager


General Purpose

  • To support the health and safety manager in providing health and safety advice and guidance to managers and staff, enabling them to fulfil the health and safety responsibilities and maintain the high standards that Renaker expects.
To support the business, achieve a zero tolerance of unsafe practices and reduce accidents and incidents


They will:

  • Target and deliver excellence in safety.
  • Monitor legal compliance and identify shortfalls.
  • Support continual health and safety performance improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be involved in the development and maintenance of Renaker's Safety Management System (SMS).
  • To support and monitor the implementation of the SMS, identifying any shortfalls and supporting the identification of corrective action.
  • To maintain close working relationships with managers and staff to provide support in health and safety.
  • To perform regular health and safety inspections of Renaker and subcontractors and to produce inspection reports.
  • To support the projects during their investigation of accidents and incidents and development of appropriate actions.
  • To support the development of risk assessments and method statements and to monitor compliance.
  • To deliver health and safety training, including the operation of the SMS.
  • To assist sharing lessons learned and good practice.
  • To chair health and safety committees.
  • To support the Supply Chain Approval System (SCASS), with respect to health and safety.
  • To maintain an uptodate knowledge of all health and safety matters relevant to the Renaker's work activities.
  • To perform other tasks to support the health and safety manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Essential)
  • At least 3 years health and safety experience in multisite construction environments (Essential)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Maintain working relationships with directors, staff and subcontractors.
  • Experience of delivering training.
