    We have a great opportunity for a new team member to use their photographic skills in a diverse healthcare environment making a real difference to patients' lives. We will also offer training opportunities to expand your skillset and support staff to progress in their chosen career and thrive.

    You will participate using all your skills in numerous aspects of Clinical Photography and Ophthalmic imaging, providing a scientific and non-clinical photography service that also includes video, Public Relations and multi-media imaging resources.

    Main duties of the job

    Post-holders most hold a degree in Medical Illustration, or a degree in Photography, plus the post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography. For the right person, we would be open to recruit a Trainee Photographer who would be funded to complete the Staffordshire Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Photography, on Annex 21 salary scale of 75% at Band 5 until training period and qualification obtained.

    All post-holders would be required to register as a Medical Illustration Practitioners with the Academy of Healthcare Science and maintain continuous registration.

    All post-holders will be expected to be highly computer-literate and have experience of digital working in clinical photography

    All clinical photography should be undertaken in accordance with the Institute of Medical Illustrators Code of Professional Conduct and be fully conversant with these guidelines.

    The post-holder should have a sympathetic and professional attitude to patients and be capable of photographing both male and female patients in a state of undress, sometimes in distressing situations, use interpersonal skills and understand the significance patients capacity and consent.

    The ability to work cheerfully and effectively as part of a team, under pressure.

    The post-holder is required to comply with all relevant Trust and departmental policies and procedures and be committed to continual learning with recognition that mistakes provide opportunities for learning and improvement in the future.

    Person specification Experience

    • Ophthalmic photography experience post qualification.
    • Proven experience in a variety of relevant media including photography, video, social media applications inc Twitter and or Facebook, computer graphics.

    Skills

    • High level of IT skills and proven computer-literacy.

    Qualifications

    • BSc in Medical Illustration/Clinical Photography or IMI Diploma or Media qualification to degree level plus IMI PEC or Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Illustration/Clinical Photography or equivalent.
    • Must register or be a AHCS Registered Health Care Scientist Home - The Academy for Healthcare Science )
    • Good level of general education including English and Maths at GCSE A - C or equivalent, on new exam grading system of 5 or above
    • Specialist courses within Medical Illustration - such as ophthalmic fluorescein angiography (short courses /CPD).
