JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to support the FSS Cash & Banking Team in the allocation and reconciliation of all Cash, Card and Voucher Receipts for the Halfords Group, in a timely and accurate manner, with any discrepancies highlighted, investigated and resolved. The role will be undertaken as part of a team of approximately 6 people across the Support Centres in Redditch and Ayr. The department is dynamic and ever changing and as such, the purpose and duties of the role may change over time (e.g. towards greater reporting and analysis rather than document processing).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily matching & clearing of multiple control ledger clearing accounts across multiple Halfords entities
Checking and clearing settlement files against payments, raising queries to the relevant parties if any discrepancies are identified
Completing balance sheet reconciliations within agreed timescales and any risks/issues reported to the Cash & Banking manager and all other relevant stakeholders.
Attending monthly review meetings with the Financial Reporting team to discuss the monthly reconciliations and any outstanding items/issues
Review GL Account balances on a regular basis to ensure any process issues are highlighted and resolved quickly
Take full responsibility for the clearing and reconciliation of the Klarna and Gift Card clearing accounts and any associated queries
Support Continuous Improvement activities including reviewing current processes, and in particular work alongside the Cash & Banking manager to improve the reconciliation process
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business maintaining effective working team relationships with all relevant departments including Stores and Centres
Aid in the management, reporting and resolution of chargebacks and/or fraud claims
Support the team with any additional ad hoc duties as and when required such as preparing and sending coin files for stores across Group and the investigation and resolution of queries arising as a result of discrepancies with cash and coin.
KEY SKILLS
PC skills with detailed knowledge and use of IT packages – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Databases (SAP would be preferable)
An ability to work to deadlines is essential.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Good organisational skills
