    Job summary

    Responsible for leading the day-to-day organisation of the Driver Training team.

    Ensuring that all PCV driving tests/re-tests are carried out in accordance with DVSA legal requirements.

    Main

    Responsibilities

    • collation of training school activity and learner establishment figures.
    • in practical driving examinations and practical demonstration tests.
    • with Engineering to gauge training fleet availability and make plans accordingly.
    • with the Training School Recruiter to ensure that training slots are managed.
    • communication with Operations regarding trainee progression and release to depot timescales.
    • with the Training School Administrator to ensure that any ad-hoc requests for training are dealt with.
    • out PCV driving tests/re-tests in accordance with legal requirements and complete all associated paperwork.
    • out periodic formal observation assessments on all training school driving instructors, both permanent and relief, ensuring that high standards are maintained.
    • provide cover in the absence of the Recruitment & Training Manager to liaise with the DVSA to organise and administer procedures affecting driver training and standards.
    • undertake ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as directed by the Recruitment & Training Manager as required.

    Essential Criteria

    • training instruction experience
    • of 4 years' experience of driving PCV vehicles
    • previous live customer complaints of active sanctions on record
    • driving licence
    • and ability to import skills, knowledge and confidence in others.

    • good knowledge of the national standard for driving buses, CPC regulations, and IHTTC requirements.
    • an ability and willingness to successfully engage with key stakeholder's cross-business, and if appropriate, will challenge interpretations.
    • an ability to communicate effectively and is willing to tailor their communication technique to reinstate with the intended audience.
    • an appetite to partake in Working Groups designed to enhance Driver Training's platform.
    • approach to tasks and working hours in line with business needs.
