We are the Blossom Homebirth team and we are looking to extend our Blossom family.

We are a close knit team and are passionate about looking after each other and the women in our care.

We are looking for confident, passionate and inspiring midwives to join our team.

The team launched as the Trusts first continuity of carer team in January 2019. Since then we have increased our homebirth rate from 1.1 to 4.3%.


You will provide a full range of health education, social care and advice to women, liaising with multi-disciplinary/agency groups are to continually improve maternity care for childbearing women and their families, being responsive to the needs of the women and obtain user views as appropriate.

Supporting student midwives and junior members of staff as we guide and encourage them through their professional development, as well as receiving excellent senior midwife led support to ensure you fulfil your own personal potential.

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and inspirational midwife to join our team.


Midwives are supported and enabled to practice in the optimal environments for all elements of midwifery care for all women (and their families) to enjoy a normal birth experience.

You should be an experienced midwife, able to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care and be able to work flexibly including nights and over weekends.

The midwife has a responsibility to provide holistic woman/baby centred midwifery care; this maybe leading midwifery care or working in collaboration with the multi
- disciplinary team that advocates pregnancy as a normal physiological life event. The midwife will assess, plan,
implement and evaluate care for the women/baby.

The role will encompass taking responsibility for the management of a community caseload to provide individualised supportive care to women and their families.

To collaborate with external agencies and consumer groups.


The Midwife (Band 6) participates in the supervision and teaching of staff as well as being a Mentor/Assessor for midwifery students.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide midwifery leadership in all areas of midwifery practice, demonstrating autonomy, advocacy for women and an excellent decision making style.
  • Continuity of Carer teams are being developed within the Trust and it is the expectation that the majority of midwives will work within a continuity of carer team eventually. Recruitment will be directly into a continuity of carer team following a period of orientation.
  • Support the continuity of carer teams and Band 7 Team Managers in the execution of his/her role.
