Allen Lane are delighted to be supporting a central government organisation in their search for a permanent ServiceNow Developer.


The ServiceNow Developer will join a new team managing, maintaining and developing ServiceNow, at times alongside 3rd party ServiceNow consultants, to continuously improve the organisations ServiceNow solution.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced developer to join the team and influence the delivery of ServiceNow within the organisation, contributing to the technical roadmap and ServiceNow strategy.


Your will be responsible for:

  • Where appropriate; plan and lead development on sets of related stories, understanding the whole system, taking responsibility for teaching to others
  • Develop, configure, or customise software solutions to meet the user needs, producing clean, efficient, secure, and welltested architectural solutions
  • Continuously improvement solution to drive automation, efficiency, and selfservice
  • Ensure that solution designs align with the goals of the organisation, following the digital roadmap and principles within the Digital Plan
  • Network and communicate with senior stakeholders and product owners, proactively seeking out opportunities for digital transformation
  • Follow and improve best practice guidelines
  • Find ways to improve system robustness, resilience, stability, and integration
  • Performing and documenting routine system configuration tasks to maintain service, including Access Controls, Systems Maintenance plans and all other associated IT system administration
  • Knowledge share with team members, mentoring and coaching junior colleagues
  • Identify, test and champion the adoption of emerging technologies
  • Upgrade and patch the ServiceNow environment, to keep it up to date
  • Able to communicate effectively across organisational, technical, and political boundaries.

  • You know how to ensure that the right actions are taken to investigate, resolve and anticipate problems. You can coordinate the team to investigate problems and implement solutions and preventative measures.
  • Information security. You know how to maintain the security, confidentiality, and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
  • You use modern standards approach throughout automation and testing.
  • Programming and build (software engineering). You know how to use agreed security standards and specifications to design, create, test and document new or amended software.
  • You can translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet user needs and engage in meaningful interactions and relationships with users. You put users first. You can manage competing priorities.
  • Systems design. You can design system components which meet business needs. You are good at solving problems and understanding technical and business complexity.
  • Systems integration. You can integrate and test user interfaces, systems, and programme components.

Technologies - Experience using ServiceNow is essential. It is desirable that the applicant is familiar with MS Teams, Azure DevOps and Office 365.


Technical Qualifications / Knowledge:


  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer Certification
  • Understanding of ITIL processes
  • Configuration of ServiceNow's ITSM service catalogue
  • Integrating ServiceNow with other thirdparty systems, such as Snow, via an API
  • Functional knowledge & experience of ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Requests, Assets / CIs, knowledge & SecOps (SIR, VR) preferred
