The Role:
Scrum Master - Data & Automation
Within BA Digital, the Scrum Master for Data & Automation plays a crucial role in driving agile practices and ensuring the efficient delivery of value-driven initiatives.
The individual in this position may serve as a delivery lead for teams operating outside a fully structured agile framework, all while ensuring the integration of agile principles.
What you'll do:
- Coach Data and Insights product teams in scrum techniques to produce highquality deliveries and coordinate scrum ceremonies.
- Assist Product Owners in creating and managing healthy team backlogs for various Data and Insights portfolios.
- Ensure effective communication of progress towards goals and deliveries, utilizing tools like Jira, Github, and Power BI.
- Monitor team capacity, velocity, and throughput, adapting to priorities and finding ways to increase velocity safely.
- Manage dependencies and ensure product team capacity includes support for earlier deliveries.
- Show flexibility in meeting the varying demands of British Airways and supporting Transformation initiatives.
- Identify and remove barriers to delivery, fostering an environment of trust and continuous improvement within the team.
- Lead coaching and adoption of agile frameworks or lean/agile practices, driving process improvements towards a CI/CD ambition.
- Act as a change agent to embed Agile practices and challenge the status quo within the team.
Skills / capabilities:
- Strong knowledge of agile frameworks and an advocate of their benefits.
- Team coaching expertise to implement continuous improvement.
- Proficient in stakeholder management.
- Pragmatic approach to implementing complete frameworks or lean/agile practices.
- Consistent delivery of complex data products.
- Experience in report usage and/or ability to write basic SQL code (desirable).
Qualifications / experience:
- Significant scrum master/project management experience in a technical department/company.
- Experience with project management and collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of Data departments is desirable.
- Educated to degree level, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Data products and Data cloud solutions (e.g., AWS, Snowflake) is desirable.
- Agile methodology certification (Product Owner, SAFe Scrum Master/Agilist, Certified Scrum Master, or Professional Scrum Master) is essential.
- Project Management accreditation is desirable
