Role Responsibility

Tunnelling Control room support

  • Assist the Tunnelling Control Room Engineer in tasks such as:
  • Setting up, undertaking & day-to-day operations of TBM works
  • Completing Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Participate in weekly SHE inspections
  • Monitoring site materials, equipment deliveries and consumables
  • Works with construction and quality teams to complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's)
  • Assist QA department with quality control especially with regards to erection of precast segments within the contractual tolerances
  • Preparation of all tunnelling shift reports,
  • Preparation of internal progress reports and daily records for the purpose of billing, timekeeping etc.
  • Preparation of delivery schedules for TBM consumables, e.g. segments, walkways, tunnel grout ingredients, soil conditioning agents, Tail seal grease etc.

Organizational development

  • Data collection
  • Process mapping
  • Define, map and test systems

Collaborative delivery

  • Support and facilitate site based collaborative sessions
  • On track to successfully complete a BSc, MSci/ HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering/ Geology/ Geophysics or similar discipline.
  • Attention to detail
  • Organisation skills
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal
  • Experienced in MS Office
  • Word, Excel, Powerpoint

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract.

Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the constructionof site compounds.
