    Graduate Commercial Manager
    Location – Selby
    Salary - £30,250
    Closing date – 23rd February 2024

    About the role

    In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of projects across the organization.

    This involves working in the Capital Projects Commercial team to ensure that Drax receives the best value in delivering its future energy projects.

    You will need to establish and maintain relationships with various internal departments including the wider Capital Projects team. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing relationships with external parties and suppliers, including OEMs and potential EPC/EPCM contractors. This may involve participating in contract negotiations that involve significant monetary values.

    Furthermore, the following are key accountabilities for this role:

    • Assisting the commercial team in negotiating a wide range of project contracts
    • Coordinating with project managers and Procurement to issue tenders, establish scoring/weighting systems, and address any clarifications needed for bids
    • Developing and implementing contract management strategies to ensure that all contractual obligations, claims, payments, and warranties are properly handled
    • Managing contractual negotiations for smaller projects, either directly or with the support of the Procurement team, to ensure compliance with company policies
    • Providing project progress updates and evidence to the Planning team to ensure that targets are met
    • Supporting the commercial team in ensuring that all contracts and work practices align with Drax policies.

    About You

    • University degree in STEM, QS, or construction law preferred. Other numerate and literate degrees considered.
    • Strong desire to learn new skills in a critical sector.
    • Excellent communication skills for all levels of an organization.
    • Ability to provide innovative solutions to complex challenges.
    • Some travel within the UK may be required.
    • Regular attendance at team and wider business meetings necessary.
    • Flexible to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
