The position of Project Client is an HS2 client leadership role accountable for the management of all client functions and the leadership of the client team within the station IPT.

You will be responsible for discharging the client responsibilities within the station IPT asset and assuring the safe, timely, compliant and economic commercial management of complex building projects within an infrastructure programme.

The role requires significant level of interface with the station delivery contractor and third party stakeholders.

Undertaking NEC3 Project Management duties within the IPT and sits on the IPT leadership team to support and enable delivery.


The role is responsible for safeguarding client owned risks and leading HS2 client resources within the Integrated Project Team (IPT), ensuring accountabilities are fulfilled whilst promoting a collaborative culture both within and across integrated project teams (IPTs).

**About the role

  • Accountable for discharging the duties and obligations of the NEC3 Project Manager as defined by the contract.
  • Accountable for Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM) duties as delegated by the Client Representative.
  • Establish, monitor and lead contract management performance, including identification of emergent or systemic problems, leading to resolution.
  • Act as the HS2 Client representative for the IPT Delivery Partnering Board.
  • Client accountability for reviewing and accepting programme schedules.
  • Custodian for managing and mitigating HS2 programme client owned risks.
  • Enable the delivery of client retained third party works (Utilities, On Network Works, and Enabling & Temporary Works) and services by managing interfaces with HS2 Client functions external to the Station IPT.
  • To be responsible for leading the HS2 IPT Client Team (Construction & Functions) integrated within the IPT.
  • Accountable for creating a collaborative culture which enables high performance by encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing both between and across HS2 and the supplychain within Integrated Project Teams.
  • Accountable for the workforce plan for HS2 resources integrated in the IPT and for achieving an efficient organisation that delivers value for money.
  • To work with HS2 functional leaders to ensure matrixed resources are appropriate, capable and performing to expected standards.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of best practice integrated project delivery management principles, within a partnership construct, in a matrix client organisation.
  • Knowledge of applicable UK construction regulations, including CDM requirements
  • Knowledge of supply chain sectors across various geographies and industries (incl. civil, construction, complex buildings and systems integration)
  • Understanding the elements of a project and programme, defining cost and schedule and their relationship to work breakdown structures
  • Understanding the relationship between contract reporting, project cost reporting, programme and business reporting and the criticality of this to business performance
  • Understanding risk and contingency management.
  • Degree level qualification in engineering, construction or building science, commercial or project management, or the equivalent professional experience supported by an appropriate professional accreditation.

  • Experience of delivering integrated infrastructure with multiple assets to time, costs and quality considerations.
  • Experience of leading and managing teams in collaborative partnerships
