- To support, develop and educate all staff groups involved in front-line Transfusion Medicine in line with Department of Health and other regulating bodies' requirements.
- To ensure that all Transfusions take place in accordance with Trust protocols and procedures.
- To lead development and implement policies for the Hospital Transfusion Committee.
- To lead development and implement local protocols with medical and nursing staff and other involved groups.
- To facilitate the liaison between clinical users of blood and blood components and the blood transfusion laboratory.
- To identify areas for nursing practice development.
- To develop and coordinate dissemination of patient information in relation to transfusion and its alternatives.
- To explore the use of and lead implementation of alternatives to allogeneic blood transfusion.
- To coordinate the investigation and reporting of blood transfusion-related incidents.

- At least five years post registration experience of blood & blood components and their use either in a clinical or laboratory setting.
- Registered nurse or Biomedical Scientist
- Teaching skills
- Experience of clinical audit
- MSc in appropriate subject or equivalent experience
- Currently working as a Specialist TP
- Experience of writing clinical policy
- Experience of incident investigation
- Evidence of leadership responsibility
