Are you an analytical person and confident using excel spreadsheet? Do you enjoy reconciling and making sure things are correct?


SSCL CITB Grants & Levy team are looking for a number of Control Advisors to join the team looking after Financial control.

The role is hybrid with 2 days based from the office and the other 3 days from home. The team is predominately based from the York office but other location can be considered.


What you'll be doing:


  • Provide ongoing maintenance and update of procedures
  • Keep own knowledge of procedures up to date
  • Run reports, extract data and analyse the data, as the service requires, often using spreadsheets and statistical techniques
  • Respond to, and resolve queries allocated by the Team Leader highlighting appropriate action and any preventative measures for approval by the Team Leader
  • Update/maintain manual or data base records including banking data
  • Input data accurately
  • Provide admin support as required
  • Ensure that agreed timescales are adhered to
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Team Leader
  • Comply with regulatory requirements where applicable

What you'll bring:


  • Numerate and able to process complex data
  • Understanding of controls
  • Ability to write and review local work instructions
  • Good Excel skills
  • Good Word skills
  • Very good interpersonal skills
  • Able to use initiative and exercise sound judgment
  • Articulate and able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to work within a changing environment
  • Willingness to learn the requirements of financial controls

It would be great if you had:

  • Able to use Power Point
  • Flexible manner and approach
  • Ability to assess risk
  • Experience of accounting processes; however training will be provided
