We're based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries, and conservation.

The team- This is an exciting opportunity to work within a brand-new team of Permitting Officers for our evolving Flood Risk Activity permitting regime.

You will be based at one of our national offices with the option to work flexibly.

  • Experience/skills required
  • Experience of environmental permitting is not essential. Most important are your key transferrable skills, relevant professional qualities and a genuine passion for protecting the environment.

Essential skills include the ability to:

  • Make and justify informed, timely decisions based on analysis of complex technical data
  • Coach and support others through technical challenges
  • Effectively manage your own time and workload
  • Successfully meet performance targets and deadlines
  • Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers and partners

Desirable skills:

  • An understanding of flood risk management data
