The School:


Nationally celebrated, More House School provides an exceptional, mainstream education for intelligent boys with Specific Learning Difficulties and weakness in their developmental language skills.

Providing a transformative education repeatedly recognised as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted over more than a decade, we offer a specialised learning environment for day and boarding boys from Year 4 to Year 13.

Our pupils are taught to recognise their strengths and develop their self-belief so that they achieve independence and extraordinary results at GCSE, BTEC and A' Level, above the national averages.

A majority progress to university. Class-sizes are small, with a maximum of 15 pupils.

The Marketing Officer will work as part of our Admissions Team, clearly communicating the mission, ethos and day-to-day reality of the School.

Full training and ongoing mentoring in the role is provided, together with a comprehensive induction programme. Ongoing professional development is supported through INSET days and other training opportunities.


General key responsibilities


To work alongside the school's Core Leadership Group and Admissions Team to promote More House School and to develop the school's image and reputation among its key constituents.


Specific duties include:


Under the direction of the Admissions Registrar to:

  • Increase awareness of More House School as the UK's leading specialist provision school. Review and revise all existing communications and ensure future communications are consistent and fully represent the personality and objectives of the school.
  • Review current advertising and publications about the school. Manage the advertising budget and establish advertising priorities which align with the identified markets and enrolment targets. Revise publications to ensure consistency of communication.
  • Oversee the School's website. Review current content and design and update and revise as necessary.
  • Compile a school newsletter to be distributed to parents on a halftermly basis. Compile and publish the School's Annual Review.
  • Manage the School's media activity keeping a vibrant, current and active presence on all social media channels. Prepare well written, friendly news stories about school events, trips and activities and curriculum.
  • Take photographs throughout the school day and at all key events to support stories and communications
  • Work directly with the School's Core Leadership Group and Admissions Team to develop the school's public relations strategy across key markets.
  • Promote and assist in the development of an active alumni organisation, maintaining a current database of families and establishing active links and communications for alumni.
  • Assist the Admissions Team in the organisation and promotion of Open Days.
  • Research and order suitable school merchandise and marketing collateral.
  • Attendance at INSET training days and other School events.


The successful applicant must also interact effectively on a professional level and seek to establish and maintain productive relationships with all.


The above list of duties is not exhaustive, and the post-holder may be required to perform such other duties as may be deemed necessary by the Bursar or Headmaster from time to time.


Person Specification:


Essential

  • A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, or other Higher Education qualification
  • Highly developed, proficient English Language skills, and ability to generate copy for publication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of marketing, and understanding of marketing in an Education environment

Desirable

  • Higher Education qualification in marketing, communications, or PR
  • Photography skills
  • Experience of working in an Education environment

Hours:

8.15 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.

Five weeks' paid holiday entitlement, in addition to public holidays.

It is expected that holiday will be taken during School-holiday periods; however, at the Bursar's discretion, occasional holiday taken during School term-time may be permitted.


Attendance at School events outside these hours from time to time, as well as Founders' Day and INSET days towards the beginning or end of School holidays.

Time in lieu will be granted for hours worked outside normal working hours. Some flexibility is required.


Remuneration and support:

Salary £35,000 per annum
