    Full time (part-time/full-timeequivalent job share considered), permanent, non-residential position in anOfsted rated Outstanding School.

    Post : Due to increasing pupil numbers, we are expanding our therapy are looking for two Speech andLanguage Therapists to join our dynamic team for an immediate start or in September2023. We offer excellent training andsupport working in a unique, friendly and professional environment.

    Main duties of the job

    A suitable candidate would be an enthusiastic and adaptabletherapist, who enjoys working as part of a team. The post will involve managingand delivering therapy to a varied caseload of boys aged 8 to 18, includingassessing pupils needs for Speech and Language Therapy, both formally andinformally, and working collaboratively with teaching staff. Applications fromNewly Qualified Practitioners, Practitioners Returning to Practice andprofessionals with experience would be welcomed. Therapy staff meet regularlyfor CPD and supervision, and support is provided both formally and informally.You must be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and be registered withHCPC and RCSLT. Practitioners looking to return to practice must be prepared tocomplete the Return to Practice requirements and be able to return to the HCPCregister. Full support to achieve this will be offered.     About the department: We are a largemulti-disciplinary team, consisting of Speech and Language Therapists,Occupational Therapists and Literacy and Numeracy tutors. The department has a growingnational reputation and is committed to professional development. Training isprovided within school during our comprehensive in-service training programmeand regularly throughout the term. Attendance at relevant external trainingcourses or central excellence networks (CENs) is encouraged.

    The School: MoreHouse School provides an exceptional, mainstream education for boys withSpeech, Language and Communication Disorders, Specific Learning Difficultiesand related SEND needs. The school,recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted over more than a decade, offers aspecialised learning environment for 490 day and boarding boys from Year 4 toYear 13. Our pupils are academicallyable and take a range of GCSE, BTEC and A Level courses.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC Registration or willingness to complete Return to Practice
  • Membership of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Desirable

  • Completion of other relevant training courses.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • -An ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the HCPC standards of proficiency for Speech and Language Therapists and the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics.
  • -An ability to assess pupils needs for Speech and Language Therapy both formally and informally.
  • -An ability to develop and implement specialist Speech and Language Therapy for pupils and to evaluate the outcomes of the intervention.
  • -An ability to make effective use of strategies to motivate and engage pupils in therapy and to promote good student relationships.
  • -Ability to provide supervision and support to less experienced therapists and assistants.
  • -An ability to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff.
  • -Relevant work experience.
  • -A good understanding of the principles of supportive behaviour management.
  • -Evidence of commitment to own professional development.
  • -Confidence using IT to communicate.
  • -An ability to keep accurate and contemporaneous records.
  • -Excellent standard of written English and attention to detail.

  • -Completion of other relevant training courses.
  • -Experience with a range of standardised assessments.
  • -Experience of delivering supervision.
  • -Recent professional development relevant to Speech and Language -Therapy in educational settings.
  • -Proficient skills with Microsoft. Experience of using a school-focused -management information system.
  • -Evidence of resilience and professionalism in the face of challenge. Readiness to identify and respond with appropriate initiative to new challenges.
  • -Understanding of own strengths and areas for development
  • -A commitment and ability to persevere.
  • -A willingness to engage in activities in the wider school community.
