    Context

    The Global Strategy Network (TGSN) is recruiting for the position of Senior Business Development Associate. To date, TGSN has been growing its UK business through various different donor departments across government. As our portfolio and networks expand, we have identified the need for a Senior Associate based in London to lead client engagement within the defence sector, building our networks within and across MoD to identify further opportunities for growth, including with the US Department of Defense.

    Duties

    The Senior Business Development Associate shall hold the responsibility of executing the duties specified below and shall keep TGSN colleagues reasonably informed on all matters relating to their implementation, reporting to the Head of Business Development. As a new position at TGSN, the exact duties of this position will likely change over time, but it is expected to cover the following responsibilities:

    • Develop strong relationships with existing TGSN donors and clients specifically within the UK defence sector.
    • Build relationships with new and potential donors.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for TGSN in matters of defence-related inquiries, representing the organisation at conferences, networking events, and in meetings with key stakeholders to enhance visibility and grow TGSN's reputation.
    • Travel as required to visit project teams and donors, or capitalise on BD opportunities.
    • Conduct market analysis and intelligence gathering to identify trends, opportunities, and potential challenges within the UK defence sector, providing insights to inform TGSN's strategic direction and operational planning.
    • Coordinate closely with TGSN's finance, operations and HR functions for smooth implementation.
    • Lead or contribute to bid writing and strategy development as required and in coordination with TGSN management.
    • Help establish and maintain TGSN compliance with relevant defence standards, supported by TGSN colleagues as required.
    • Ensure ongoing professional development to stay current on the latest developments in defence technology, security protocols, and geopolitical factors that could impact TGSN's operations and opportunities within the UK defence market.

    Competencies

    • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in the UK defence sector, business development, marketing, and communications; international development or security sector.
    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, international development, security studies or relevant discipline; advanced degree preferred.
    • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive materials
    • Understanding of the UK defence sector, US knowledge highly desired
    • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including donors, government officials, and internal team members.
    • Experience conceptualising, outlining, performing, and directing the research and writing of proposals, reports, and other business, communications, and marketing documents and collateral.
    • Ability to analyse market trends and intelligence, and use this information to contribute to the strategic direction and operational planning of the organisation.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

    • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Based in the UK and able to travel to London approximately twice a week
